Born and raised in New Zealand, Shane grew up literally half a planet away from the world of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. An avid outdoorsman and keen observer of nature, it was no big surprise that in his late teens he began the first of three graduate degrees in natural sciences. He studied barracudas for his PhD at the University of Georgia and worked on coral reef conservation projects after graduation.
After catching a marathon of Elvis movies on television at age 12, it was also no big surprise that Shane found himself immediately hooked as a fan. So, for a long time, all was well as Shane dived the coral reefs of the world while humming Elvis songs to himself and gathering tidbits of information on Elvis’ concerts and recording sessions as a sort of hobby.
When the time came to make some changes in his life, he set his sights on the glittering city of Las Vegas where he entered the world of the Elvis tribute artist after securing a position at the Imperial Palace. He’s been an independent operator since 2005, doing promotional work, conducting weddings, working corporate and convention events as well as private functions, participating in music-video and feature movie shoots, and performing live on stage in Las Vegas and elsewhere.
In his work, Shane is by nature interested in detail and it’s imperative to him that his performance and portrayal are as accurate as can be reasonably managed. “I’m a fan, first and foremost, and Elvis’ memory and his incredible talents deserve the best we can do.”
Shane most relishes the chance to act as something of an ambassador for the memory of the greatest performer of them all and loves singing the songs that for so long brought him comfort and inspiration. “Hearing people say things like ‘I had no idea he sang that kind of song’ is the height of joy for me.” As Elvis often said with that famous crooked smile, it's a tough way to make a living, baby.
